ABOUT
Synth Library NYC is a lending library of synthesizers, recording equipment, modular gear and other electronic musical instruments. We are a membership organization committed to making music technology accessible to all! We create opportunities to share skills and build community. Membership is free and members have access to borrow instruments to take home for four weeks.
We are open to all with priority access to those who have been traditionally marginalized from the fields of music production, and/or have faced long-standing economic and opportunity inequalities: including BIPOC and individuals of all marginalized genders (including but not limited to trans women, cis women, trans men, non-binary, intersex, gender nonconforming, two-spirit and questioning folx.)
We owe special thanks to the founders of Fem Synth Library in LA who have consulted with us along the way and POWRPLNT, a network of Brooklyn artists dedicated to providing equal access to digital arts education, who is our 501c3 fiscal sponsor.
Synth Library NYC depends upon financial donations (click here to support our fundraising campaign) to help us pay for our rent and purchase synths, cables, cases, and other program expenses.
WE ARE 100% VOLUNTEER RUN! If you have the means, consider donating! We can provide a tax receipt upon request.

OUR HOME: HEX HOUSE
Hex House is a growing community located in East Williamsburg. Hex House is quickly becoming a place for debuting experimental electronic music, a place of worship, a place for cognitive play, a space to cut your teeth in performing, a place to read the poetry from deep in your heart and so much more.
Stewardship team
Heidi Sabertooth is an artist and community organizer working at the intersection of electronic music, cultural access, and arts education. Active in New York City’s electronic music community since 2012, her practice spans music production, live performance, DJ culture, and synth hardware-based creative practices, with work presented through platforms including Good Room and The Lot Radio and releases on labels including BPitch and Lobster Theremin. With a background in community development and social work, Heidi’s broader practice explores how technology and collective cultural spaces can expand access within music communities. She co-founded Synth Library NYC in 2020 with Cy X and currently leads its strategic planning, financial oversight, operational infrastructure, and community programming.
Paria Almasi is a Brooklyn-based musician and visual artist. She has been an active member of Synth Library NYC since its 2021 founding, and as of 2024, collaborates with co-founder Heidi on website updates, newsletter creation, & inventory management. She believes Synth Library NYC's initiatives are crucial for bridging the gender and socioeconomic divides prevalent in music technology. As the Digital Media Specialist, Paria works to grow the library’s public presence and amplify its mission, programs, and community impact. Paria also works to strengthen connections across the synth library member community and foster deeper participation in its work.
Brian Abelson is a musician, programmer, and community organizer in New York City. He’s part of Bushwick Ayuda Mutua’s Tech Support Working Group and a board member of RAFT Foundation. He makes music under a number of aliases and with a slew of collaborators, most recently producing ambient and breakbeat-fueled shoegaze under the name fuzzyy. As Lead Librarian, Brian helps manage the systems that support gear sharing and inventory tracking, while contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of the library’s collection of synthesizers and electronic music instruments.
